7 Reasons Why Your Business Needs Small Business Branding Photography

We have all heard the expression “You shouldn’t judge a book by its cover” and that expression couldn’t be any more true when it comes to small business branding photography

But sadly in today’s digital world, when your customers are looking for a business to solve their problems or help them to achieve a certain goal, that’s exactly what they do.

Why? Because they have short attention spans.

Your customers search online and on social media, they click on your social media profiles and on the search results in which they come face to face with you and your business.

Once your social media profile and webpage have loaded, do they see a boring generic screen, or are they greeted with the warm, friendly and smiling faces of the team that can help solve their problems?

That’s a very simple example of the difference professional photos, or better yet, videos can make for a business and the impression it can make with your potential customers.

Having high-quality and professionally shot images that tell your story will help potential customers gain more trust in your brand, see you as an expert and motivate them to become loyal customers to your business.

Using quality, professional photography and video content across your website, social media and other digital channels not only catches the users interest but they also improve your visibility online.

Images and video content are one of the most valuable tools you can utilise for getting better results from your content.

Statistics show that visitors are 80% more likely to engage with content if it’s paired with an image and 64% more likely to remember what they read or heard.

So there you have it. It’s very safe to say that you need images to promote your brand and business.

Now the question is – where should you get them?

Once you decide to invest in quality images, you have three options:

  • You can use stock imagery
  • Take the photos yourself or
  • Hire a professional photographer.

I recommend hiring a professional photographer because original photography is more authentic and successful for brands and businesses.

No matter who your customers or clients are, professional photography is a very important asset that will contribute to your brands or business’ success.

Here are 7 reasons why your business needs small business branding photography

Professional Photos Establish Your Brand’s Identity.

The most important reason why your business needs small business branding photography is that it helps establish your brands identity.

Imagery is an indispensable part of your brand and how your business communicates itself to your audience or potential clients.

Ask yourself, Is your brand or business more on the corporate side, or is it more witty or fun?

High-quality imagery gives you the chance to really showcase your brand’s personality and communicate a really specific message to your audience or potential clients.

Plus, no matter your personality type, it shows you are serious about quality and professionalism which they will really appreciate.

Professional Photos Grab The Attention of Your Customers and Give a Good First Impression.

Like I mentioned above, images on your website and social media are often the first impressions of you, your brand and your business.

And first impressions are a HUGE decision making factor for prospect customers and clients.

So you need to stand out

It’s absolutely crucial to have your best foot forward to make your business stand out from a pack of competition.

This is so it’s you and only you stuck in the mind of potential customers or clients when it comes to their consideration and decision making stages of their purchasing cycle.

Simply, you’re the only solution to their problem.

Professional Photos Give an Authentic Visual Representation of Your Brand.

People connect with people, so using photos of you, your team, office and business gives potential customers a chance to form a connection with you in a more deep and meaningful way, before you’ve even met.

And that’s powerful

The importance of this effect cannot be ignored in any way at all, especially in the professional services industries where trust and connection are important to retain customers.

A lot of brands and businesses turn to stock photos, which is a HUGE mistake

Stock images aren’t effective because they don’t show your actual product, service or business, it shows that your lazy and don’t really care and most importantly you won’t come across as authentic to your customers.

Customers Can Get to Know You.

When customers visit your social media or website, they want to know who you are, they want to get to know you, what you do and why you do it!

It’s been proven people are more likely to do business with someone they know and trust.

And don’t believe me, ask yourself, would you rather do business with someone you know and trust or a complete stranger?

I can tell you that using stock photos doesn’t help them do that – even worse, stock images could give potential customers a false impression of what you offer and the expectations they have of you.

The best way for potential customers to get to know you and your business, and to build trust is by showing them amazing original and authentic photos of yourself, your business, your team and what you do.

Stock Photography Feels Inauthentic.

This is a big one for me personally and one of the biggest motivators for me pushing small business branding photography is the dreaded use of stock images.

The biggest drawback of using stock photos is that they can be bought and used by anyone, so the chance that another business is using the same image is high.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen the same stock image used on multiple websites, social media platforms and marketing material.

Furthermore, if a photo on your social media platforms or website is associated with another business the visitor has had a bad experience with, those associations can influence how they view your brand and whether or not they do business with you.

Stock images could honestly make or break a business.

I’m not saying you should never use stock photos ever, there’s just a time and a place for them.

The Quality of Professional Photography Is Incomparable.

No matter how good the camera on your phone is, you simply can’t beat the quality produced by professional photographers using a professional DSLR or Mirrorless camera.

There is no way a camera phone can compete on quality.

Also, professional photographers have years of experience which allows them to use sets, shadows and lighting to their advantage, coupled with the great quality gear they use which will guarantee the final images being high quality and perfect for the online platforms you intend to use them on, whether it’s your website, Facebook,  LinkedIn or Instagram.

It’s a perfect blend of elements.

Professional Photos Give Your Business a Competitive Edge.

High-quality professionally taken images help you stand out from the crowd of competition and make your business more unique and professional in the eyes of your potential customers.

This is the difference between someone clicking your Ad on Google, engaging with your social media or enquiring through your website.

It can lift the quality of your business more than you know, which means higher quality services and higher quality customers; and who doesn’t want that right?

Professional photography can set the tone and momentum for your whole business, showing your potential customers that you are committed to providing them with professional service and a quality product.

If you value your brand and your businesses growth you need to invest in professionally shot imagery.
